Bank Of America Hires Chief Data Officer

Bank of America has appointed John Bottega as chief data officer.

Bottega will be responsible for the strategy, policy and governance of the bank’s data management. He will report to Marc Gordon, enterprise chief information officer, and will be based in New York.

Previously, Bottega has worked for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York’s markets division, as chief data officer, working on data management and quality with various US and foreign regulators. Prior to that, he worked in Citigroup’s corporate and investment banking unit, managing data strategy, policies, line functions and data investments.

Bottega is also chairman of the board of directors of the Enterprise Data Management Council, an industry association focused on financial industry data management.

It is not clear if he replaces anyone in this role at BoA, and the firm could not be reached at the time of publication.
